This website was built with the help of “Families Forward”.  It is designed to work as a communication and resource tool for families who support a family member or another individual with a disability. 

Caring for a family member with a disability is a huge responsibility.  Trying to find your way through the maze of information and resources can feel like a full time job.  Generally the best way to get information is through word of mouth.  When you need a good mechanic, you look to friends and neighbours who have used mechanics before; when you are wanting to know how to grow a beautiful garden you ask your neighbour who has a beautiful garden.   So why always wait to talk to the “experts” for answers regarding supporting a loved one with a disability?  Why not ask the real experts who are the families, like yourself, involved with disability on a daily basis?  Pooling resources, knowledge and experiences between hundreds of families may be the best place to look for all your answers.

In this website you will find connections to others through the forum and through the mentorship program.  To use the forum which is simply a place to “chat”, ask questions, or send out information  to other families; go to the ‘People Power” heading and follow the link or simply click onto the forum  from any screen you’re on.
