- I am a 55 year old grandmother who has a husband with a disability, that I look after at home, with the help of 2 caregivers. I have 20 years of experience working in Nursing Homes and Extended Care Facilities. I really loved my job, so much so that looking after my husband is a privilege and brings me enjoyment everyday because I can see how happy he is. I live in a very nice house, in a very nice neighbourhood, on 1/2 an acre with a big deck, fire pit and close to St. Albert and Edmonton. I have a 2 bedroom, 1400 sq.ft. basement suite with living room , kitchen, laundry room, and foyer with a private entrance. My house is too big for just my husband and myself, therefore I would like to share my house with someone who would get as much enjoyment as we do from where we live. I would love to share my home with seniors or adults who have a disability and who would enjoy this type of setting. I am willing to make sure they have 3 home-cooked meals a day, housekeeping, laundry and supervise daily activities if they need and want that type of support. I can also be more hands off if that is the goal. I could provide transportation to appointments and recreational activities. I am looking for individuals who would like an independent lifestyle in society and to have a nice welcoming family atmosphere. I have family members that have developmental disabilities and I want to learn and assist others as much as I can so I can advocate for them later on. Thank you!

Our 28-year old daughter is ready for the challenge of living away from the family home. She has a developmental disability and needs a caring and supportive environment as an extension to her current family background.
Our daughter has a gentle, pleasant manner, is easy going, and would be a wonderful companion for someone living alone. She takes Edmonton Transit System independently, works part-time, and is involved in church and volunteer activities. She has a great attitude, is a non-smoker, and enjoys a semi-independent lifestyle with supports for some day-to-day activities.
Our vision is to establish our daughter in a safe and welcoming home where she will continue to expand her daily living skills and personal development, is valued in her community, and where she will gain a trusted companion. We would continue to have our daughter involved in many aspects of our family life, but recognize the importance of her gaining more independence.
